Why should I use handmade soap?
A lot of commercial “soap” on the market isn’t even true soap! Most people are surprised when they find this out. If you look at the label, you might see it listed as a “beauty bar” or “cleanser” instead of “soap”. This is because they use synthetic detergents and legally cannot call it soap. Handmade soap contains glycerin as a natural byproduct of the soapmaking process. Commercial companies sometimes remove this glycerin in order to add it to the rest of their skin care line. This means their soap is more drying but then they are able to sell more of their lotions, creams, etc.
How do I care for my soap?
Handmade soap will dissolve when exposed to water so be sure to keep the soap out the direct stream of the shower, standing water, and make sure it dries out between uses. The soap will also last longer if you use a washcloth or bath pouf instead of rubbing directly on your skin. Unused soaps are best kept in a dry, dark location to preserve freshness until you are ready to use them (best used within 6 months for optimum fragrance).
Do you do custom orders?
Yes! Custom orders are welcome. Whether it’s a special batch of soap just for you or favors for a party, I can do it. Message me to discuss and we can work on something special for you. Minimum quantity does apply.
Do you do gift baskets?
Yes I do! Let me know what you’re looking for and I can put something together for you.
Can you make me a soap/bath bomb/etc using a licensed character?
No. Their images are trademarked by their owner(s) and it would be trademark infringement to make a product that capitalizes on that without the trademark owner’s permission. I can make products “inspired” by characters or series as long as it doesn’t directly infringe on the owner’s trademark.
Can you tell me more about the ingredients you use?
I would love to! Please check out the Ingredients page and also the Ingredient Spotlights on my blog. Feel free to contact me if you have more questions or a request for an Ingredient Spotlight.
Will your products help my medical condition?
No. As per Health Canada, no medical claims can be made about cosmetics without thorough testing and approval. Any cosmetic making a medical claim must either have a DIN (Drug Identification Number) or NPN (Natural Product Number).
Can I use your soap as shampoo?
I do not recommend using my soap as an alternative to shampoo. Most hair types require a milder pH than soap. If I get enough interest, I may work on formulating a shampoo bar.
